WHY IS ALCOHOL NOT INCLUDED IN THE BOX?

We get this one a lot, and we get it, aren't we offering cocktails here? What's a cocktail without the liquor? Well, liquor laws are complicated and shipping can get expensive; we decided that it would be best to send you our unique recipes and cocktail ingredients while allowing you to buy the liquor at your local shop according to your budget and preferred brands. It's the easiest-to-find ingredient and you only need to get one bottle, easy peasy! You can read ALL of our MANY reasons for not including alcohol right here.

WHAT IF MY BOX IS MISSING INGREDIENTS, OR SOMETHING IS DAMAGED?

Let us know! We do our best to make sure that all boxes are packed with everything they need and arrive safely but, once in a while, things may go wrong. Email us and we'll send replacements ASAP, usually within one day. If something is broken, please send a photo.

CAN I SKIP A MONTH BUT KEEP MY SUBSCRIPTION GOING?

Absolutely! You may not want a particular box for any number of reasons—we totally get it. You can keep your subscription going but skip any boxes you don't want by logging into your account and hitting ᴇᴅɪᴛ under Your Subscription(s). Just remember that charges billed on the 16th of each month are for the boxes that ship at the beginning of the following month, so please skip by the 15th of the current month to avoid being billed for the next month's box. If you have a prepaid multi-month subscription, you can still skip any box  by sending us an email—we'll make the change for you on our end.

CAN I GIVE SHAKER & SPOON TO SOMEONE AS A GIFT?

Yes! And what a splendid gift it is! You can purchase 1-, 3-, 6-, and 12-month subscriptions for anyone who can receive packages via the US Postal Service, which they can activate whenever it's convenient for them. We'll send your giftee an email—on whatever day you wish—to notify them of your gift (with a personal message from you), and then they'll be prompted to create their account and provide their shipping address— the only thing you need to know when purchasing the gift is their name and email address!

This way, your giftee has full control over the subscription. If they don't love the coming month's box, for example, or the timing is inconvenient, they have the choice to claim the gift for the next month, or the month after that. We do things this way for a few important reasons. Firstly, our boxes are perishable and need to be refrigerated on the day that they arrive, so we want the people receiving our boxes to know to expect them. And secondly, people are sometimes quite particular about the liquor they want and don't want to drink, and since each month's box revolves around a different kind of liquor, we find it best to allow giftees to decide which boxes they do and do not want to receive.

Please note that they will only be notified of the gift on the day that the email is scheduled for, that is not the day that the box will arrive. They will need to then claim the gift and will receive the box that ships next after their redemption.

HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?

We charge a flat rate of just $5 for USPS Priority shipping, no matter where you are.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

Right now we can only ship to the 50 US states and the territories (basically anywhere you have a US post office!). We're working on shipping internationally, though, so please follow us on social media and/or subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to know when we do.

WHEN WILL MY BOX SHIP?

We assemble and ship all boxes that were purchased in any given month the first consecutive Monday–Wednesday of the following month (e.g., if you placed your order any time in June, your box'll ship the week of the first Monday in July). We ship via USPS Priority Mail (1–3 days), so your box should reach you by the end of that week.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY BOX IS ON ITS WAY?

We'll send you an email with  tracking so that you can stalk your box until it arrives!

WHAT IF I CAN'T BE THERE TO RECEIVE MY BOX?

No one needs to be there to sign for your box; however, we do recommend refrigeration as soon as possible. If you won’t be home for more than a day after it arrives, it's best to change the shipping address in your account to that of someone who can receive and hold the box for you. (We would love to simply delay your box for you, but we sadly don't have the capacity to hold boxes in cold storage after assembly.) As long as someone can refrigerate your box promptly for you, it should be waiting for you in good condition upon your return!

HOW OFTEN WILL I BE BILLED FOR MY SUBSCRIPTION?

On the 16th of each month, you'll get billed for the following month's box (if you're on the month-to-month plan), or once every 3, 6, or 12 months, according to the prepaid subscription  option you’ve chosen. Regular subscriptions renew automatically, but can be skipped or cancelled at any time. Gifts do not auto-renew.

HOW LONG WILL THESE INGREDIENTS KEEP?

We aim to source the freshest produce so that it can keep for the month, but it is obviously freshest as soon as you receive your box (and must all be refrigerated ASAP!).

The syrups are good for at least a year if they remain unopened, although we highly recommend keeping them out of direct sunlight.  Once you open (and refrigerate them promptly), they should last at least 1 month in the fridge, particularly the light-colored ones.   The darker/richer syrups tend to be fine for closer to 3 months, but that is not guaranteed.   Although, when we say they’ll go bad, that really just means that mold will start to grow (since they're made from all-natural ingredients), which you should be able to easily see and then you’ll know they should no longer be used.

Bitters last pretty much forever—though they do evaporate over time (as any liquid will) so we recommend keeping them away from heat. They do great at room temperature.

WHAT IF I'M NOT THRILLED WITH SOMETHING?

We believe in the quality of our product and stand behind it. If anything arrives in subpar condition, email to let us know and we'll either resend, if it's a specialty item, or refund the cost of procuring something that's easy to find (such as a lemon).

If you receive your box and decide you don't want it before using anything in it, you can ship it back to us and we'll refund the cost of everything other than shipping.

If you're very unhappy with something to do with our product, please let us know and we'll do our best to make it right.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS?

We reveal each month’s box at the beginning of the previous month on our site, our social channels, and mainly in our newsletter. If you join our mailing list, not only will you get updates on each upcoming box and special deals, but you'll also be entered to win a free box!

IS THIS PRODUCT VEGAN?

We strive to make all of our boxes naturally vegan, though if a box ever isn't fully so, we'll explicitly mention that when announcing it.
