Shaker & Spoon was founded in 2015 in Brooklyn by two designers (Mike and Anna) with an overfilled liquor cabinet. We got tired of buying apricot brandy and cream sherry and not using them again, of needing hard-to-find ingredients at 10 p.m., of trying that complicated cocktail recipe only to be disappointed once it didn’t turn out. Now, with our monthly cocktail club, you just pick up the bottle and we take care of the rest. So next time you want to impress your date, party with friends, or relax with Netflix while drinking the perfect old fashioned, we’ll be there to give you the knowledge and confidence to go beyond pouring a glass of wine or opening a beer. With our help, you’ll mix that drink perfectly—and always be the tastemaker in your circle.
Our cocktail collaborators hail from the very top of the industry—regular winners of Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards and spots on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, to name just two. That’s resulted in an extensive and growing roster of featured bartenders including pros from buzzed-about and forward-thinking establishments around the world, like Sother Teague (Amor y Amargo, Windmill, Blue Quarter, Honeybee’s, I’m Just Here for the Drinks, Wine Enthusiast’s Mixologist of the Year for 2017); Caer Maiko Ferguson (Daijoubu, Culturemap Tastemaker Bartender of the Year for 2019); Mia Mastroianni (Soho House, Bar Rescue); Stacey Swenson (Dante, named World’s Best Bar at the 2019 Spirited Awards); Kellie Thorn (Empire State South, Les Dames d’Escoffier winner in 2017, Wine Enthusiast's 40 Under 40 in 2018); and so many more. Not only stars behind the bar, many of our collaborators are also award winners, TV stars, authors, credited spirit experts, world travelers—and it shows, in the fantastic original recipes they create for us! No matter who’s featured in the box you’ve got, you can drink assured that they know their stuff inside and out and are passionate about sharing it with you.
When they’re not hard at work at our kitchen facility in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, the spirited members of our production team are following their acting, singing, dancing, painting, directing, stage managing, and graphic design dreams! Some of these future stars have been with us for 3+ years, making for a knowledgeable, tight-knit team that misses no detail and keeps your monthly fun flowing. Every step of the process is taken care of in-house by them, from hand-selecting produce (excess is donated to City Harvest every month), to cooking syrups and bottling bitters, to packing, sealing, and shipping boxes.
Brittany, Joel, and Laura are the pillars of our dedicated customer service team, and no matter when you’re reading this, chances are they’re standing by to field your questions and comments! Each is a former member of our production team who’s moved on to answering your questions, reading your reviews, responding to any issues efficiently and promptly, and making sure your subscription remains carefree and fun. There’s no subcontracting to a fulfillment center or customer service farm here—and it shows, as the survey clearly says that the personal touch of our customer service is one of subscribers’ favorite parts of the Shaker & Spoon experience.
