Russell Davis—our CCO (Chief Cocktail Officer) who oversees monthly box and recipe curation—has been a mixologist for almost a decade, during which he's worked in almost every type of bar imaginable. Known for his rebelliousness, southern charm, and renegade business sense, Russell possesses a signature bartending style that combines proper mixology and craft bartending techniques with speed, knowledge, and showmanship. He was named Nightclub & Bar's 2012 Bartender of the Year and was the most frequent mixologist guest on Spike TV's Bar Rescue. His consulting company, Unlimited Liabilities, has designed the first cocktail glass for space, invented spirits and methods of distillation, and branded bars and bar programs, among other ventures. Academia, a downtown Austin bar focusing on curated cocktails and small bites, is their latest project.
April Wachtel is a passionate educator, experienced mixologist, cocktail and spirits instructor, and founder of cocktail mixer company Swig + Swallow. A 22-year veteran of the beverage and hospitality industry, April has worked in every role from busser to bartender to beverage director, to brand ambassador and beverage consultant. She's appeared on The Today Show and Fox & Friends, as well as The Pitch Podcast, The Travel Bite, Tech Bites, The Main Course, Sharp & Hot, and more. Her cocktail classes and personal philosophy of hospitality have been featured in The Wall Street Journal and on the Sundance Channel.
After growing up in Columbia, Missouri, and getting a Hotel & Restaurant Management degree from the University of Missouri, Seth Weinberg went on to bartend in Missouri, Mississippi, and now Florida—he's currently the lead bartender at the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. There, where the walls are rich with history, he creates cocktails on a daily basis inspired by his surroundings. Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack were frequent performers at the Fontainebleau. Timeless movies (including Goldfinger, Scarface, and The Bodyguard) were all filmed there. He often creates vintage-inspired drinks as an homage to this history and as a hobby, he collects vintage whiskey and spirits.
